Study Tour has been organized to Turkey on Agricultural Loan Evaluation System


The Study Tour, organized under EBRD’s AzAFF Programme funded by EU, aimed at acquiring in-depth knowledge about the Turkish financial institutions’ experience on agricultural finance and Agricultural Loan Evaluation System (ALES) which is currently being promoted in Azerbaijan under the name of AzALES.


The Study Tour, organized under EBRD’s AzAFF Programme funded by EU, aimed at acquiring in-depth knowledge about the Turkish financial institutions’ experience on agricultural finance and Agricultural Loan Evaluation System (ALES) which is currently being promoted in Azerbaijan under the name of AzALES. The study tour took place 3 consecutive days between 2-5 December, 2019 in Ankara, Duzce and Istanbul. In total 12 representative from FIs, 2 representatives from AACD and 4 members of AzAFF TA team participated in the tour.

During the first day of the tour, participants were hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Ankara, while in the following day participants visited Tac Tarim, which is one of the biggest organic farm in Turkey. Participants had chance to visit the whole range of agricultural activities in the farm. Main function of the modern dairy barn, milking parlors, cow care, cow feed, pasteurization, feed efficiency and proxies, livestock farming technologies, free range and organic chicken production and etc. were introduced to the participants. The participants were also introduced about the marketing of produced products and contracting farming in Turkey.

During the last day of the tour, consequent meetings with key FIs (Is Bankasi, Yapi Kredi and Ziraat Bank) in agriculture sector and Kredi Kayıt Bürosu (Credit Bureau) were organized. FIs highlighted the importance of using Agricultural Loan Evaluation system (ALES) and showed bank statistics before and after using ALES system. KKB also shared their experience on Centralized Agricultural Loan Evaluation System so called TARDES and discussed procedure of joining to the centralized system.

Experience sharing of key market players and palpable results in using agricultural loan evaluation system developed by Frankfurt School increased motivation of Azerbaijani FIs for joining Centralized AzALES system.
